An Insight into my Day-to-Day Life

My day to day life in Oxford

I thought it may be interesting to have a little insight into what my day to day life looks like when I am in my home town, which is Oxford.

Personally I enjoy an early start as the morning is when I feel my most motivated and have the most energy. I wake up and the first thing I like to do is check my phone, usually over night I receive a lot of messages! Whether this be via Airbnb, Booking.com or someone looking for a room. I clear all of these and my inbox and I like to feel as though I am then ready to take on today’s tasks. I am someone who cannot deal with any notifications on my phone, I like it all to be dealt with and no notifications left.

After getting myself ready for the day and sometimes if I fancy my morning routine will include a beautiful candle lit bath (I take full advantage of the bath at my parents house as my own house doesn’t have one!). After when I am ready I will have a look at my to do list and see what I need to tackle today, I like to create my to do list the day before so that I have an understanding of what my day will look like and what kinds of things need completing and what will need actioning.

On a normal day I like to get all of my admin out of the way first thing, so that can be anything from emails to sorting my accounts (the boring stuff). This will take me roughly around 2-3 hours to sort through everything and make sure I am on top of my workload.

Just before lunch if I can squeeze it in I would take my dog, Copper for a walk around the village. It’s a good little way of re-setting yourself and getting a bit of fresh air, especially after sitting facing a screen for most of the morning.

When back home we will make lunch, what we have varies, at this time of year we usually enjoy a homemade soup, mackerel salad or smoked salmon and eggs on toast! I try and set myself an hour for lunch but when you are self-employed this can prove tricky! I always seem to go for one extreme to the another, it’s either 10mins or 2 hours and there never seems to be an in between. (Makes a note to myself – must get better at this). At 1pm my phone alarm will go off and will remind me to check in on any of the short let properties that may have needed cleaning that day. I find this helps me keep on track of the comings and going’s of the short let’s and keeping up to date with our cleaning team is really important.

After lunch this is when I will either physically go to some of the properties or just have a bit of fun, dependant on what’s going on, on that specific day. I typically like to make sure all my work is done before lunch and the only time this wouldn’t happen is if something crops up unexpectedly. This means I usually have a free afternoon where I can either choose to do anything I wish or sometimes this is when I will schedule in physical jobs at the properties. One of the things I most enjoy about what I do is going round to each of the short let’s and just making them look pretty. No one will ever plump a cushion as good as you!

Let’s say that we are doing jobs for the afternoon this could involve viewings, HMO inspections, meetings, events, odd jobs, garden maintenance, checking everything is in working order in the short let’s etc, the list goes on.

However if we haven’t set any jobs for the afternoon our afternoons are usually filled with walks around the Cotswolds or family visits.

All day I monitor my emails, messages and calls so that these are always kept on top of and no messages will ever go missed.

In the evening I like to spend time with my family, we will all have dinner together and then sit down and watch TV. Sometimes all 6 of us will bundle ourselves into my parents bedroom to sit and watch the bake off all together with a hot drink. It’s my favourite time of any day.

Before I go to bed I make sure all of my notifications are cleared, all emails are answered and my to do list is ready for the next day. I like to go to bed with a clear head so that I feel as though I have accomplished the day and am ready for the rest of the week and whatever life throws my way.

I hope this helps you get an insight of what my day to day life as an property entrepreneur looks like. Of course my days will vary just like everyone’s and as always I feel extremely lucky to lead the life I live.

Thank you for reading.

Bye for now Xx
